Tour Duration
- Approximately 8½ to 9½ hours
- Fully private tour
- Flexible itinerary
- Collection from Southampton Cruise Terminals, hotels or private addresses
Typical Itinerary
We usually collect guests at around 9:00am, although this can be adjusted to suit your cruise ship or accommodation.
Our first destination is Stonehenge, where we normally arrive shortly after 10:00am.
Stonehenge
Our visit begins at Stonehenge, one of the world’s most famous prehistoric monuments and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
I always recommend starting your visit at the excellent visitor centre before heading out to the stones themselves.
Here you’ll find:
- A fascinating exhibition explaining the history of Stonehenge
- Archaeological discoveries from the surrounding area
- A reconstruction of Neolithic houses, showing how people lived around 4,500 years ago
- A café, gift shop and toilet facilities
From the visitor centre, regular shuttle buses take visitors to the stone circle in around five to ten minutes, although many guests enjoy walking across Salisbury Plain to appreciate the landscape surrounding this remarkable monument.
You’ll normally have around 1½ to 2 hours to explore at your own pace.
Scenic Drive to Windsor
Leaving Stonehenge, we travel through the beautiful countryside of Wiltshire, Berkshire and Hampshire before arriving in the historic royal town of Windsor.
Depending on timings, there may be the opportunity to stop for lunch at a traditional English pub or café before visiting the castle.
Windsor Castle
The afternoon is spent exploring magnificent Windsor Castle, which has been home to British monarchs for almost 1,000 years.
Founded by William the Conqueror in the 11th century, Windsor Castle remains an official royal residence and is still used for state occasions and royal ceremonies.
Highlights include:
- The magnificent State Apartments
- The historic castle grounds
- Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House
- St George’s Chapel (subject to opening times)
- Beautiful views across the town of Windsor
The State Apartments contain priceless works of art, fine furnishings and impressive ceremonial rooms that have welcomed monarchs and world leaders for centuries.
St George’s Chapel
One of the most important parts of the castle is St George’s Chapel.
This magnificent Gothic chapel is the final resting place of numerous British monarchs, including:
- Henry VIII
- Charles I
- Queen Elizabeth II
- Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh
The chapel is also the home of the Order of the Garter, Britain’s oldest and most prestigious order of chivalry.
Please note that St George’s Chapel is closed to visitors on Sundays as services are held throughout the day.
Explore Windsor
If time permits, there is also an opportunity to enjoy a short walk through the charming streets of Windsor.
Visitors can browse:
- Traditional English shops
- Independent boutiques
- Cafés and restaurants
- Historic streets overlooking the castle
Return to Southampton
After your visit to Windsor Castle, we return to Southampton, usually arriving in the early evening.
Drop-off is available at:
- Southampton Cruise Terminals

- Other agreed locations
We always plan the day carefully to ensure cruise passengers return to their ship with plenty of time before departure.

Stonehenge and Windsor Castle complement each other beautifully.
